Lutheran Women in Mission - LWML
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. For 75 years, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.
The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
2017–2019 Primary Focus
Nurturing Faith in Christ. By God’s grace we offer each woman opportunities to be in the Word and to use her unique gifts in God’s service.
Making Our Faith Meaningful. We equip each woman to make a significant difference in the lives of all people.
Sharing Encouragement. We value each other in Christ and we accept and encourage each woman to grow in her relationship with others.

Lutheran Ministry Services Northwest (LMSN) is a non-profit organization that provides pastoral and spiritual care to individuals and their families in Seattle area hospitals, nursing homes, and care centers. LMSN also serves as the Coordinator for Prison Ministry for the Northwest District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and we are restarting our outreach to the King County Jail.
Mite Explanation and History
Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1–4), the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" — offerings above and beyond the support given to congregations and the LCMS. Mite Box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program.
Look for Pilgrim’s “Big Mite Box” display to get your own Mite Box. Mite donations are collected on the first Sunday of each month. 75% of the donation goes for the work of the LWML in the WA / AK District. 25% goes to the work of the LWML at the national level.
